Portugal, Explore The Northern Rivers

7 - 14 October 2006

Northern Portugal is a very rural, unspoilt area and little known to paddlers. In 2003 Beyond Adventure, in conjunction with our North American partners, Sunrise International, pioneered possibly the first open canoe trip to that area. We are now able to open up the opportunity to paddle and camp in this wonderful country.

Itinerary
3 days on the Rio Sabor,
3 days on the Tamega

Accommodation
Last night in a riverside hotel in the town of Amarante, 6 nights camping.

Canoeing Standard
Suitable for canoeists who have some experience of moving water. but if limited, our guides will be able to ensure you pick up any necessary new skills during the trip. The rivers are at low levels in October, gently moving in the main, with regular rapids. The river sections include some portages but we will paddle on grades 1-3. Clients will be able to choose to paddle tandem or solo, according to their preference.
