Life through a Lens
Life through a lens.
The Great Outdoors and photography go hand in hand. Who hasn’t seen a gorgeous mountain panorama or an image of a paddle board cruising over crystal waters and immediately imagined themselves there? A captivating image can transport you to another place, can capture the emotion of a sunset or the atmosphere emanating from an overwhelmingly beautiful landscape.
The staff at Beyond Adventure are lucky enough to witness amazing scenes every time they step out the base and go on an adventure, whether it is in our back garden of Highland Perthshire or further afield in the many amazing wilderness areas of Scotland. It is sometimes hard to illustrate to people the benefits of emerging yourself in such an environment but a good photographer can bring life to the image so that people can subconsciously relate to the landscape.
Enter Jamie Grant, local photographer and judge for Scottish Nature Photography Awards.
This year we are delighted to work with Jamie to bring to the screen the epic images we are lucky enough to take in every day. A local to Highland Perthshire Jamie knows only too well the benefits of the wilderness and loves to explore the outstanding scenery places like Glen Lyon has to offer. His work has taken him through the colourful and ever changing Central and South America, the striking backdrop of South Georgia and to the iconic Yosemite Valley in California.
Amongst all the areas in the world it is still the UK that lures him back and inspires him. We invited Jamie to join us on a North West Highland in May this year to ply his trade. This wilderness expedition combines hill walking and open canoeing, accessing some of Scotland’s most remote mountain areas in Assynt. Mountains such as Suilven, Stac Pollaidh or Cul Mor can look otherworldly framed against the waterways of Loch Sionascaig and Loch Veyatie.
The shots Jamie captured can be seen below. From happy faces to epic landscapes he has managed to encapsulate all that it means to explore the beautiful patch of Scotland. Admire the photos and picture yourself on the mountain top, the middle of the loch or sitting under the stars - like what you see?
